“Capture This: A Guide to Creating Family Documentaries”

Talk Abstract:
Family history is more than pedigree charts and delicate records. It is about making connections between generations. A family history documentary is one way to provide a bridge for future generations to connect with the past. Anyone can create a meaningful family documentary that illustrates and enriches family stories and histories. This class will showcase different ways of creating family history documentaries along with ideas for how to engage a wide range of family members.
Speaker Bio:
Dawn Retta Brimhall received a BA in History Teaching from Brigham Young University (2011) and a Masters in Education from the University of St. Thomas (2018). In 2020, she was named the Aldine Independent School District (ISD) Secondary Teacher of the Year in Houston, Texas. She currently serves as the Social Studies Instructional Specialist at Davis High School in Aldine ISD. She enjoys travel, photography, music, and family history.
