Speaker Bio:
James has a J.D. Degree from Arizona State University, spent 2 years as an Intelligence Analyst for the U.S. Army, and 39 years as an Arizona trial attorney. He has been interested in doing and teaching family history research for more than 36 years and is an avid blogger of Genealogy’s Star , Rejoice, and be exceeding glad , Walking Arizona , and 360 Cities . Additional family history related experiences are: 10 years as a missionary at the Mesa, Arizona FamilySearch Library; three years at the BYU Family History Library and making several genealogy videos on for their YouTube Channel; Chairman of the Board of The Family History Guide Association; three years as an Area Temple and Family History Consultant for the LDS Church; member of the Board of Directors of Family History Expos; member of the Board of Directors of the UGA (Utah Genealogical Association); author and co-author of over 25 books on genealogical research; and presenter at Expos and Conferences around the U.S. and Canada. He previously owned a retail computer business and an Apple Macintosh software company and is a professional photographer. He and his wife, Ann, have 7 children and 34 grandchildren, and the Tanners are currently on a one-year full-time FamilySearch mission as Document Preservation Specialists at the Maryland State Archives in Annapolis, Maryland.
