Also, the fact that Windows 10 will be unsupported after Oct 2025.  We will discuss  these and other items that may he a help to you.   The notes with active links for this and related classes are on my website  https://uvtagg.org/classes/dons/dons-classes.html .

    WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

  1. Instructor is Donald R. Snow ( snowd@math.byu.edu ) of Provo, Utah.
  2. The notes with active URLs and additional information in other notes and articles are posted at http://uvtagg.org/classes/dons/dons-classes.html .
  3. Problem for today:  What are some little-known tips and tricks for Windows?
  4. WINDOWS CLIPBOARD

  5. The clipboard defaults to save only one item at a time, but can be set to save many items.
  6. To Set it to hold many items, go to Settings > Clipboard and enable Clipboard History.
  7. Now, instead of CTRL-V to paste an item, press Windows-V and you';ll see all the clipboard items with the latest at the top.
  8. Left click on the one to paste it where your cursor is.
  9. CRTL-V still works to paste in the latest item.
  10. ICONS FOR WEBSITES

  11. To include your entry information, e.g. your log in to FamilySearch, after you are in FamilySearch with your credentials, drage the icon from in front of the address bar onto your desktop or taskbar.
  12. This puts an icon when you drop it that already includes your log in information so you do't need to type it in ech time.
  13. SELECTING SEVERALITEMS OF A LIST

  14. To select more than one item in a list, e.g. files, photos, folders, etc., , hold down the CTRL key while clicking items; this highlights each of them for editing, moving, deleting, etc.
  15. To select all items between two items, ighlightk the first and hold down the Shift key while clicking the last; everything in between is then highlighted.
  16. This works by clicking the bottom one first and holding the Shift key while clicking the top one, too.
  17. WINDOWS 10 BECOMES UNSUPPORTED AFTER OCT 2025

  18. Microsoft has announced that after Oct 2025, Windows 10 will no longer be supported.
  19. This means that Windows 10 will still work, but there will be no updates nor bug nor virus fixes for it.
  20. Hence, hackers will be able to get into y our system to spread malware, etc., and Microsoft will not fix the problem.
  21. Your system may ot be capable of updating to Windows 11, as mine is not, so you may have to think about upgrading your entire system.
  22. CONCLUSIONS

  23. The clipboard setting to hold multiple items may be the most helpful itip in these notes.
  24. The icon containing your entry information for a webbsite may also help you save many keystrokes.
  25. There are many other little-known tips that help and i may try to do another class on them sometime.
