Dear Elisabeth [Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow] I am packed ready for starting to meet Bro Thatcher [Moses Thatcher] at Ogden [Ogden, Utah] to take evening train for San Francisco [San Francisco, California]. Have seen your sisters Susan and Harriet, (the latter living in her own city house where also Louisa is about to move) and Rachel & Lucy Grant. All well - left Martha [Martha Ellen Snow] and rest feeling & seeming to be doing well at Provo [Provo, Utah] & comfortable. Heard nothing late from George and Mary. I would like you and your girls to begin to pay your tithings [tithing] so as to get their names on schedules on earth and in heaven. I expect Josephine [Josephine Snow] has already - Heber expects to start in a few weeks on a mission with B. Y. [Brigham Young Jr.] to S. E. Utah [Southeast Utah] & to the Indians of N. M. [New Mexico] & Arizona going South East, while we go West & South. Elder Teasdale to the Indian Territory. I think Arthur [Arthur Eugene Snow] had better start to school and on Saturdays can help Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] haul up hay if needed. He must take care of my horses and I wish him to see to harnesses the Boy [Bay ?] for Minerva [Minerva White Snow] when she needs into [?] Artimesia’s [Artimesia Beman (Snow) 1819-1882] Buggy which he should also keep greased and it may be left at the back door. When Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] or Moroni [Moroni Snow] happens to need my horses as they may occasionally (if Moroni visits the Y. M. M. Young Mens Mutual ?]) Or if Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] gets any one to help him haul coal) then you must let Minerva [Minerva White Snow] use the white mare if she needs in running round town as she has often to do among the sick and R. Societies [Relief Societies]. You failed in your Telegram to state whether you was [were] going to board the Teacher and get a girl.
