Salt Lake City [Salt Lake City, Utah] April 10th/78 [Wednesday 10 Apr 1878]

Dear Elisabeth [Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow]   We encountered storms and mud all the way up [from St. George, Utah].   At Cove Creek [Cove Creek, Utah] we concluded to go via Richfield [Richfield, Utah] & Sanpete [Sanpete, Utah] with the carriage and let Levi [Levi Mason White Snow ?] & Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] keep the old road to York [York, Utah] and get their loading.   Fearing therefore that they would be ready to start on their return home before I could reach this city [Salt Lake City, Utah] and get your articles sent down to York [York, Utah], I sent forward by mail Josephines [Josephines Snow] letter to Lucy for her to get the things you and the girls call for.   And I paid her the $27 and she will have sent you word what she sent you.   They are all in a box and with them is a female Syringe for Artimesia [Artimesia Beman (Snow) 1819-1882]  which please hand to her.   I also ordered a case of Oil and a sack of sugar (white crushed) which was shipped to you to go by Orson [Orson Pratt Snow], before I reached the city [Salt Lake City, Utah].   After my arrival here [Salt Lake City, Utah] I received Libbies [Elizabeth Ashby Snow] letter enclosing $10. For a sack [of] sugar.    Please accept the one already sent which cost $13.25 and give Artimesia [Artimesia Beman (Snow) 1819-1882] 15 & Julia [Julia Josephine Spencer Snow] 10 about Twenty five [25 lbs] lbs between them.   The package foir [?] I delivered to Heber after my arrival here and Lucy will write you about it, for I have not had time to see any of Susans folks except the boys.

Today B. F. Cummings Jun [Benjamin Franklin Cummings Jr. ?] paid me five dollars [$5.00] for Sister Peco on his indebtedness to her.   I presume Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] and Edward [Edward Hunter Snow ?] who are coming with Two teams with Richard McCullough, will reach home if they have good luck, about the 18th to the 20 th [Thursday to Saturday 18 to 20 Apr 1878] as they will leave York [York, Utah] on the afternoon of the 5th  [Friday 5 Apr 1878].   I have received many letters but have been to [too] busy to answer them.   Our conference [General Conference April 1878] went off pleasently [pleaantly] full attendance and fine weather.  George Q. [George Q. Cannon] arrived from Washington [Washington, DC ?] on the night of the 7th [Sunday 7 Apr 1878] and is very busy with us attending to business of the church and of the Estate.   He expects to start for Washington [Washington DC ?] again tomorrow.   With Orsons [Orson Pratt Snow ?] loading is a box [of] Wire from Boston [Boston, Massachusetts] for your doors and porch, though it  contains only 63 yards and I must send more before the whole north porch can be enclosed according to plan.   The Zincks & plugs for both tubs and piping for carrying water through the House is also sent with elbows, unions, stop cocks etc in a box; but a small package of Bushings which in the hurry of packing was omitted is sent by W. H. Dame to give Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] as he passes Parrowan [Parowan, Utah].   Hoping you are all well and that I shall soon hear from you.   I am yours in holy bonds of love.

Erastus Snow

Give the enclosed to Moroni [Moroni Snow] and tell him to check off all the articles when Orson [Orson Pratt Snow] arrives with them.
