My Dear wife Elisabeth. As I am out of stamps and can’t get any tonight I have concluded to pencil a few lines to slip into Bro Bleaks [Bleak] letter. Just to say that having written home twice and as yet recived [received] nothing from any of my family I am not in debt for a letter.
I have just been to see your sister Susan and her baby boy 5 days old both doing finely and I hope you will all take courage and do likewise. Brian [Bryant ?] & Benjamin started for Cove Creek today. Mahonri Started home Friday [21 Jan 1870] Your folks are well. My own both good. Hope you and children are healthy and happy. Get Erastrus B.
