Salt Lake City July 28th 78 [Salt Lake City, Utah Sunday 28 Jul 1878]


Dear Elisabeth,

I sent you a card from Nephi [Nephi, Utah] a week ago [Sunday 21 Jul 1878]. We reached this city [Salt Lake City, Utah] Monday evening last [Monday 22 Jul 1878]. Visited Lake Point [Lake Point, Utah] Wednesday 24th [Wednesday 24 Jul 1878] & Bro Nobles [Joseph Bates Noble >] yesterday [Saturday 27 Jul 1878] returned today. We are all quite well when we lounge in the shade. Saw your brother Benjamin [Benjamin Ashby] & family doing about as usual. Susan Grant has four grandchildren. Vilate 3 & Hyrum 1. Susan found her family all well and they mostly met her at Depot. Heber's House is nearly finished and they effect [expect] to move home again soon. Have not yet seen Louisa or Harriet, but hear the latter has moved up to Sugar House Ward [Salt Lake City, Utah] & sold out at Holden [Holden, Utah]. Haddy is at Richfield [Richfield, Utah] , and near her confinement, Haven't seen any of the Snows in town.

Everybody calls the wether [weather] hot. I suppose our Dixie folks would call it quite comfortable; I do.


Sister Adams is not as well as she was while traveling. Has a Sniefs [?] woman nursing her. Lizze [Elizabeth Ashby Snow] went over to Lake Point [Lake Point, Utah] with us. Also Missia [Artimesia Snow] who went there for our to visit Anne Musser and has not yet returned. Bro Adams trip to England is now postponed till Aug 13th [Tuesday 13 Aug 1878]. Sister Adams talks of returning home in September [Sep 1878]. I start tomorrow morning [Monday 29 Jul 1878] for an exploration up Spanish Fork [Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah ?] into the Pleasant Valley coal fields with Jessee Fox, F. Little [Feramoroz Little ?], A. O Smoot [Abraham O. Smoot] and Bishop Wm Bringhurst [William Bringhurst] of Springville [Springville, Utah], return Thursday [1 Aug 1878] and go to Cache Friday [2 Aug 1878] to Logan Conference expect Missia [Artimesia Snow] & Maggie [Maggie May Snow] [to] go with us to see Susan [Susan Snow Young]. Wish you & the girls could have such an out & rest & cool of a little. Eddie [Edward Hunter Snow] started back yesterday [Saturday 27 Jul 1878] to work with the team on Sanpete Temple [Manti Temp;le] untill [until] their conference Aug 17th [Saturday 17 Aug 1878] after which we will start home. Did you get your pay for Mr. Burgess & Hinmans board? Will you have any money to spare toward a cooking Range? Write often. Love to all, E. Snow [Erastus Snow]
