    INTRODUCTION

  11. Overview of new concept
    1. Each ancestor has a "file folder" containing all the records about him (or her)
    2. You select the correct  data to show on the Summary screen for the person.
    3. The other data, correct or incorrect, is stored in the file folder, but doesn't show on the Summary screen.
    4. You can only change or delete what you submit, but nFS staff can change anything.

  16. Our task: know the correct data for each ancestor, combine nFS records, set the correct data to show in the Summary, and be sure the temple work is done
  17. Systematic way of considering individuals in a family
    • Select an individual: Check for possible duplicates, compare, and combine individuals
    • Spouse and children's view: Check each individual for possible duplicates, combine duplicate spouses and children
    • Parents and siblings view: Check each individual for possible duplicates, combine duplicate parents and siblings

  19. Register for an LDS Account go to https://apps.lds.org/sign-in/go/login.jsf -- Your user name and password also allow you to log in to nFS and other Church websites, e.g. the Morningside 7th Ward and Stake websites at http://www.lds.org .
  20. nFS webpage -- https://new.familysearch.org (Note the "s" after "http") -- Log in with your LDS Account user name and password
  21. nFS suggests we keep an electronic home database with sources and documentation, so you always know what is correct, regardless of whether your nFS data gets "clobbered"
  22. See your 9-generation pedigree fan chart of nFS data -- http://www.createfan.com/ -- Log in with your LDS Account; can be downloaded and printed, if you want
  23. New interface for nFS is at -- https://familysearch.org/invite/familytree_tab -- Log in with your LDS Account; new interface is helpful to find corrections needed, then switch to nFS to correct them; can now add and correct a few things through the new interface

ASSIGNMENT
  1. Log on to the Internet where these MS7 FH SS notes are stored, so you know how to do that.
  2. Register for an LDS Account and use it to view your 9-generation pedigree chart of nFS data on http://www.createfan.com/ .
  3. Begin gathering your FH records from home and relatives.  In particular, get copies of electronic FH databases of your family with sources and documentation.
