PURPOSE AND HELPS FOR FAMILYSEARCH FAMILY TREE (FS FT)
6.  Purpose of FS FT -- Provide a place where we can all work together to add and correct data, do the temple work, and prevent duplication of research and temple work
7.  Videos and lessons at -- https://familysearch.org/ask/#/tree/

FAMILYSEARCH FAMILY TREE (FS FT)
9.  Two types of accounts, LDS and FamilySearch accounts
10.  To see your FS FT genealogy data go to  https://www.familysearch.org , sign in with your LDS or FamilySearch account
11.  Family Tree format is "bow tie" with descendants on left and ancestors on right; several different viewing options
12.  Private Space vs Public Space -- data for deceased people is in Public Space; data for living people, e.g. you, is in your Private Space that only you can see; can add any data on living people in your Private Space and no one else can see it; merge it into Public Space when they die
13.  Your Source Box -- set up for you when your account is set up, for you to store source documentation -- get to it by clicking on your name (upper right corner)
14.  Many type of reports from your FS FT data in Family Tree and in certified programs, e.g. TreeSeek
15.  Important to keep a correct database on your own computer so you always know what is correct regardless of FS FT

NAVIGATING IN FAMILYSEARCH FAMILY TREE
16.  Click and drag to move your pedigree around in FS FT
17.  Change the size of the font on the screen by holding down the Ctrl key and rolling the mouse wheel or by click the "+ or -"
18.  Click on the "Expand Tree" arrows to show additional generations up or down
19.  Click on a person's name to see their basic information "Card" and more information
20.  Views (upper left corner) are Traditional, Fan Chart, Landscape, Descendants, and Photo Pedigree
21.  Memories tab (upper middle) has links for photos, documents, stories, etc.
22.  Family Tree tab (upper middle) has Person, Find, Lists, etc.
23.  Click on "Watch" button to receive weekly email from FamilySearch listing any changes made by anyone to that person
25.  To see updated ordinances done for people on your Watch List look for "Alternate Name Changed by FamilySearch" on your Watch list
26.  Temple tab shows names you reserved/submitted; Opportunities shows possible temple work, but only up to ggf

EDITING AND ADDING DATA
27.  Can edit information in FS FT whether you submitted it or not -- Recommended that you only make changes to FS FT data when you have documentation, i.e. sources, for proof so FS FT will be "worthy of all acceptation" (D&D 128:24) -- only post on FS FT what you have documentation for
28.  FS FT is a "wiki" so you can restore from any previous version, if needed
29.  Add source tags to show what the source document shows, e.g. Name, Birth, or Death
30.  Memories are uploaded photos, stories, audio, and images of documents
31.  To correct H-W or P-C relationships in FS FT, only delete the relationship, NOT the individuals, or you might delete the record of the temple work; MERGE the individuals

SOURCES AND USING MY SOURCE BOX
33.  Sources for the person are near the bottom
34.  Goal of FS FT is to have good sources for proof and documentation, so the data will be correct and won't be changed
35.  Sources need to be complete enough for some else to find them; Primary sources vs Secondary sources
36.  Sources can include links to webpages -- easy to save these with the free program RecordSeek
38.  Notes (comments) part of a source is so the text of source can be included to make it available and readable -- highlight text before clicking Tree Connect button to save all the text to the comments field of the source
40.  Can add sources to your Source Box, edit them, and attach to person

TEMPLE NAMES SUBMISSION
41.  Helpful video lesson on which names you can submit for temple work on the FS FT Training website mentioned above or directly at -- http://broadcast.lds.org/elearning/FHD/Local_Support/Consultant/Temple_Policy-Name_Submissions/player.htm
42.  Before submitting names for temple check for possible duplicates -- several steps to do this:  (1) Click on Possible Duplicates; (2) Try searching for name with slight variations;  (3)  Check duplicates that can't be merged since there would be too many records - temple work may be in one of the other groups of records;  (4)  Good idea to only submit names for temple that have documentation so you know it's a real person and in that family
43.  Several helpful "Certified" programs (i.e. approved by FamilySearch) to help you find temple work needed; can use Descendants View on Family Tree to help find many
44.  Reserve names for temple, then print the FOR and take to temple or FamilySearch Library to print cards
45.  If working in a public place like a library, sign out when done so others can't use your log in

CONCLUSIONS
46.  FS FT helps turn our hearts to our fathers; work on it to add data, sources, photos, stories; try to make it "worthy of all acceptation"
47.  Can usually find some temple work needed for ancestors or cousins
