This is the first time since I went to Minerva’s [Minerva White Snow, b. 1822] before Rasse’s [Erastus White Snow, b. 1849] death that I have felt settled enough to sit down and write, and tonight I am too lonesome to anything else for Martie [Martha Ellen Snow Keate, b. 1865] and Mollie [Mollie Judd (E. J. - written in different handwriting] have both gone today and the house seems so empty. When Tom [Judd (E.J.) written in in different handwriting] was held over Mollie decided it was bad to leave the city till [until] it was settled, and had been instead intending to leave in a few days, but last night just as she had got Bertie ready for bed a telegram came setting her to change quarters quickly, as we dressed him again and went up to Susies [? Susan Slater Lang Snow, b. ] and staid [stayed] all night and today she left town. I don’t think it will interfere with her going to Pipe [Pipe Springs, Utah] but I don’t think you better let anyone know she is going there. These things give me the blues most horribly. Well, I intended writing you the particulars of Rassie’s [Erastus White Snow, b. 1849] death and burial, but as Pa [Erastus Snow, b. 1818] wrote them to Mother [Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow, b. 1831], you have no doubt had them before this. I went down and staid [stayed] a week with Maggie [Margaret Alice McBride Snow, b. 1853], of course she feels terribly lonely I can't bear to think of her, and what a [ ? ] she has before her. I wondered if you girls would think to write to her. Martie [Martha Ellen Snow Keate, b. 1865] came while I was there. Spent a few days and we came up together to the Booth and Barrel performances. [Shakespeare plays E. J. - written in different handwriting] I believe Martie [Martha Ellen Snow Keate, b. 1865], Ashby [Ashby Snow, b. 1867] and Arthur [Arthur Eugene Snow, b. 1870] managed to go every time. I missed Othello [“Othello” - Shakespeare play – written in different handwriting], had a sick headache and could not have gone even if I had had a chance which I did not have. Of course it was grand. Martie [Martha Ellen Snow Keate, b. 1865] staid [stayed] here with us, Ashby [Ashby Snow, b. 1867] with aunt Haddie [Harriet Maria Ashby, b. 1834]. We have had company, called, visited, shopped, and every other thing, have been continually on the go all the week. Now it is over with I don’t know what I shall do. I am going tomorrow to stay a week with Sue [?] then one week with Juli [Julia Stringham Woolley, b. 1860] and Sue [Susan Ann Ashby Stringham, b. 1830] and after that will stay with Susie (Young) [Susan Snow Young, b. 1856] until I get ready to go home. I almost made up my mind to go home with the folks [Erastus Snow, b. 1818, and Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow, b. 1831] but have decided to stay a month longer there may never be another opportunity like the present. If Mollie goes to Pipe [Pipe Springs, Utah] I shall go with her if not will go home when Pa and Mother [Erastus Snow, b. 1818, and Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow, b. 1831] start to Mexico. I can’t bear to think of [Mon ?] Going off again, but of course he can’t go alone. He expects to go about the middle of May [May 1888]. He is getting very [?] came over here tonight before dark. Arthur [Arthur Eugene Snow, b. 1870] has gone to live with Susie [? Susan Snow Young, b. 1856], she boards him for doing her chores and keeping her company. She is just as nice as can be would like me to stay all summer with her. All of the Stringams [Stringham] in the country spent the day at Julis [Julia Stringham Woolley, b. 1860] today it was her birthday. I went down after the folks got off. We had a nice time. Sonide [?] and family were there. Rodney [?] Jones [?] and [?] Ivan [?] going out to see him, perhaps this week. The boys have offered Ashby [Ashby Snow, b. 1867] work but he can’t quite make up his mind to accept it. Dee [Edwin Dilworth Woolley, b. 1845] will tell you all about Tonis [Anthony Woodward Ivins, b. 1852] call and release, our surprise party and all the news. Martie [Martha Ellen Snow Keate, b. 1865] will send you the bill of your things with the things. Hope they suit. They cost 11.30 [$11.30] and I had 12.00 [$12.00] so still have 70 cents [$.70 cents] if you want anything. The silk shirts cost 2.50 [$2.50] so I got the finest cashmere. the stockings were a big [ ? ] and the very best. Love to you all and kisses for the children. I wish Flora [Florence Snow Woolley, b. 1856] would write too Address as usual to 14 Second East [14 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah] and write soon
