Dear Elisabeth [Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow, b. 1831],  We are now within fifty miles [50 miles] of Sonora line [Sonora, Mexico border] at the place where David Kimball died   Came first to Snowflake [Snowflake, Arizona] & St. John [St. John, Arizona] thence overland with Teams, through the mountains via Round Valley Nutrioso [Nutrioso, Arizona - http://nutrioso.com/blog/about], B. Noble Bishop, Bush Valley, Ed Noble Bish [Bishop], Lumus Valley, William Valley, N.M. [New Mexico] to Safford [Safford, Arizona] on the Ghili [Gila River] where C. Leayton [C. Layton ?] Presides and visited all the settlements of his Stake on that river.   found lots of old friend from St. George [St. George, Utah] and elsewhere.   Indian depredations before and behind us, and two sons of the Late Hon Johnathan C. Wright killed during our stay there, but we passed unharmed & although We traveled over 500 miles with teams to reach this place and M [Minerva White Snow, b. 1822] & myself have both had a poor spell resulting from cold and exposure, we are now all well and cosily fixed among our friends.   We start tomorrow [Friday 11 Dec 1885] by rail for Measer [?] to visit Marracopa Stake [Maricopa Stake, Arizona] and attend their conference [Quarterly Stake Conference] on the 22nd Tuesday 22 Dec 1885] and proceed on to Pueblo Col [Pueblo, Colorado] and thence to Manassa Conejos Co. Know not what has been the fate of Libbie [Elizabeth Ashby Snow Ivins, b. 1854] since parting with here [her]   I telegraph today to Bro Dougall enquireing [inquiring] about here [her].   Have letter & papers from Presidency [First Presidency] and others from Salt Lake [Salt Lake City, Utah] posting us of stiring [stirring] events there.  but nothing from St. George [St. George, Utah].   and unless something comes by tonights [tonight's] mail may not hear till we return from Measer or until we reach Manassa where we shall certinaly [certainly] look to find letters addressed E.
