CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST

OF

LATTER-DAY SAINTS

P.O. Box B Salt Lake City, U.T. [Salt Lake City, Utah Territory]

Feb 23 1888 [Thursday 23 Feb 1888]

Dear Elisabeth [Elizabeth Rebecca Ashby Snow, b. 1831] I spent Three days at Provo [Provo, Utah] & came by private conveyance thence to this place. Have been very busy since in council [Quorum of 12 Apostles] and much needed. Spent yesterday (which was a Holyday [holiday - Wednesday 22 Feb 1888 - George Washington's birthday]) with Joseph [Joseph Smith Snow, b. 1873] here and Arthur [Arthur Eugene Snow, b. 1870] - both in good spirits - failed to connect with Marion [Joseph Marion Tanner, b. 1859] who passed south on Provo train during my Journey hither. I left Minerva [Minerva White Snow, b. 1822] with E.W. [Erastus White Snow, b. 1849] whose Dropsy is better but Liver & Spleen so swollen and pressing upon his Lungs as to almost stop his breath and so he only sleeps a few minutes at a time and not more than one or two hours in Twenty four [24] for a week past.

The court & Receiver are pressing hard to get possession of church property and are most unscrupulous in their methods. My health is good & hope all are well at home. I find in Z.C.M.I. [Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution] accounts against me some five or six dollars [$5 or $6] charged in October last [Oct 1887] for Towelling Damask table cloths, Baby shawls etc supposed to have been ordered by you. Did you pay for them either in cash or get them on my Dinidard [?]? If so don’t want to pay again. Let me know at once. Address me under cover to S. J. Ludbury P.O. Box 967. I am stopping with him at the Gardo [Gardo House, Salt Lake City, Utah]. Have not yet received your list of articles wanted. Am in a hurry and must close to attend council [Quorum of 12 Apostles]

effectionately [Affectionately] yours etc.

E..F. [Erastus Snow, b. 1818]
